event calendar 2017The Tasmanian 2017 Event Calendar is now available to download.   It will also soon be available in Eventor.

2017 is a most unusual year for orienteering with more national and international events listed than normal.  These include NOL events at Pittwater in March, Oceania and World Masters at Auckland in April, The Australian 3 Days at Wagga in June and the Aus Champs at Bathurst at the end of September.

Key Tasmanian events in 2017 include the Sand Dunes 3 days to be held in Hobart in March as part of the NOL events at Pittwater.  In total 13 OST events will be offered in 2017. Included is a double OST event in Launceston early August followed by a double OST event in Hobart in late August.

The AGM and 2015 annual awards will be held in Hobart next year as part of the Sand Dunes 3 Days.  As a trial, OT has also scheduled the 2017 awards to be held in Sept 2017 to coincide with the final OST event, the Tas Long Distance Champs at Uplands in the Launceston region.

The 2017 calendar also sees the return of the Saturday afternoon series and the very popular twilight series in autumn and spring in both the northern and the southern regions.  You may notice some changes in the 2017 calendar that have also been made in order to assist the Junior Training (JT) squad achieve its goal of helping young orienteers move from urban orienteering into bush orienteering.  More details on the JT events will be provided in the new year.

I hope everyone appreciates the opportunities provided in next year's calendar and I look forward to seeing you at events in 2017.   I would like to thank Ross Kelly, Roger Harlow and all the other contributors who have helped put our 2017 calendar into place.
