Easter 2018

Easter 2018 Orienteering Carnival

Orienteering Tasmania is proud to be the host of the 2018 Australian Three Days Easter Orienteering Carnival, based in Southern Tasmania. The Australian Three Days is the premier multi-day orienteering carnival in Australia.

In conjunction with the Australian Three Days, the week after Easter we will be running The Bay of Fires Three Days, based in the St Helens area, which  is renowned for having some of the best orienteering terrain in Australia.

Entry will be open to all despite being a major national event.  It will be a true family challenge.  There are classes for everyone, determined by gender, age, course length and level of difficulty.  We will have entrants as young as eight and as wise as eighty. Some participants will be racing to win, with the elite classes hotly contested, but most people will be taking part as a personal challenge.

We look forward to many participants and volunteers from the Tasmanian orienteering community.  For more information stay tuned for the website launch this September.

Course planners and controllers required

We are now calling for expressions of interest for course planners and controllers for these seven events.

Note that OA rules require that controllers for Australian Three Day events should be at least Level 2 accredited. If necessary OT will provide workshops for people to gain this accreditation, so don’t let your current lack of accreditation stop you from volunteering.

To submit an expression of interest, email the Events Coordinator Sally Wayte, specifying which role you are interested in and your order of preference for the events. Please also provide a brief summary of your relevant experience.

Please submit your expression of interest by 31 July 2016 to Sally Wayte  swayte@bigpond.net.au

Our aim is to have the teams chosen by 31 August 2016, and for these teams to have courses finalised by 30 September 2017.
