World Orienteering Day Night Orienteering Spectacular

5.  About This Event: 
Celebrate World Orienteering Day in style with a night street event consisting of two scatter courses and wind down afterwards with a junior fundraising soup fest.

The goal of World Orienteering Day is that on Wednesday May 11th 2016, at as many locations as possible, we would love to see people of all ages taking part in some sort of Orienteering event.

6.  Where Is The Start Area?
The start and finish will be in our backyard.

7.  When Are Start Times?
Start between 6pm and 6.45pm

8.  What Are The Courses?
There will be two scatter courses available.

Long - visit all 15 controls. Short – visit 10 of the 15 controls

9.  Do I need an e-stick or P card?
All Tasmanian Orienteering clubs use the SportIdent (SI) electronic punching system so an e-stick or a P card is required at all events.  If you do not own an e-stick or P card, you can hire one for $4 at the event.  These are also available for purchase at most events.

  1. 11.  How Do I Enter?
    Pre-entry via Eventor – Deadline for entries is Tuesday May 10th. This is a pre-entry event only so we know how many people to expect in our backyard J and also for catering purposes with the post event junior fundraising soup fest.

13.  Information for Newcomers  
This event is suitable for everyone. As it is a night event you will need to bring a headlamp or torch. Also as it will be around the streets of Bellerive participants must observe safety first when crossing any streets. Note that no controls are set such that it will be necessary to cross a busy arterial road.

16.  What Else Do I Need To Know?
All participants in events conducted by Orienteering Tasmania and its affiliated clubs are required to register. There are two categories of registration, either as a full member or as a casual member. Further details are available on our About Membership page.

As Orienteering Tasmania events are often conducted on private property we have blanket policy of not permitting dogs at our events. Please leave your dog at home if going orienteering.

There will be a junior fundraising range of soups on offer to wind down post event.
