A tremendous day of orienteering was had at Glen Stuart, Deddington, for the 2016 Tasmanian All Schools Championships. Kim and Dirk Nankervis set great courses that challenged the experienced yet allowed those with more limited experience to achieve success.
The run of the day was Joseph Dickinson (LCGS) in Boys Open on Course 1.
He ran the challenging 5.7km course in a time of 35:11.
Another highlight was Euan Best, who ran Course 5 in the hot time of 8:54.
Zoe Dowling (Rosny College) had a 5 minute win over Rachel Allen (Friends School) in the Open Girls class.
In the overall results, Summerdale Primary School (16 pts) continued their dominance in the Primary Schools Trophy but were pushed by Riverside Primary School (12 pts) who had two clear winners in Euan and Sophie Best (Girls 12).
The Senior Girls ended with a tie between Launceston Church Grammar School and The Friends School, both with 11 pts. Rosny College were third with 9 pts.
The Senior Boys was almost as close, with one point the difference between Launceston Church Grammar School (17 pts) and The Friends School (16 pts).
St Patrick’s College was third due to wins by Jed (Boys 16) and Will Fleming (Boys 13). Tarramah Steiner School were consistent with two second places to Tom (Boys 15) and Ben Poortenaar (Boys 13).
