TOS 5 at Windfalls near Avoca in the FingalValley is on Sunday 25 May. Jan and I are using the western part of the map which as far as we can see has not been used for 10 years. It features broad spur and gully terrain and a large area of sandstone cliffs, rock outcrops and detached boulders. In field checking before Easter we saw a lot of deer as well as wallabies and wombats. We have a great assembly area and all is set for a wonderful day’s orienteering. This is the final selection event for the state team for the Australian Schools Championships and we have 10 courses on offer. This is also a great opportunity for newcomers or those who have only taken part in local after work or weekend events to come and try real bush orienteering at its best. Even though this is a statewide event you can do any course so we can suggest a course applicable to your level of experience. So make a note – Sunday 25 May, drive to Avoca and turn down the Royal George Rd for about 4 km and look for the signed turnoff. First starts at 10.00 am.
