200 Ran the Bridge last week. How many of you will nail Waterworks this Wednesday?
Heaps of people turned up for our first event over the Bridge of Remembrance, and Will Whittington’s well-designed courses gave us lots to think about.
It’s encouraging to see so many students running the Long Course. Mikayla Cooper has been too good in the first two events, but Phoebe Davis pushed her this week. Niko Stoner has won both events so far, but has Jett McComb, Ben Poortenaar, Ben Horsham and Marcus Degenaar breathing down his neck. The full results are available here.
This Wednesday we tackle the hills at Waterworks – see you there.
Do you want printed copies of the AO magazine?
The next edition of Australian Orienteer is due out next week. All financial club members in Tasmania are eligible for a printed copy as part of their annual membership. Please note that if you haven’t renewed your membership you won’t get a copy. Also please remember that you must notify me if you wish to get a copy as we only order and post copies to those requesting a copy. Those on my list from last year who have renewed membership will continue to receive a copy. If you haven’t received a printed copy before and want to go on the list or are in any doubt as to whether you receive a copy, just send me an email at membership@tasorienteering.asn.au asking to go on the mailing list. I have heard there may be a Tasmanian on the cover of this issue. Bert Elson, membership Officer
Proposal for OST courses next year.
The OT Board is currently considering changing the way that OST courses are structured, and OST points calculated. Currently, OST points are allocated on an age class basis. The Board is proposing that this model be changed to a course-based structure, which allows any orienteer to run any course (subject to their navigation and fitness levels), and still accumulate OST points. You are encouraged to respond.

Bert is looking for people to join his logistics team.
I am looking for a few additional volunteers for the logistics team for this year’s Auschamps carnival in September. In particular I need an additional driver for one of the equipment vans moving competition equipment from venue to venue. All members of the logistics team will be able to compete. Core logistics personnel will dismantle and move equipment each afternoon and do the setup next morning, camping in the equipment truck at night (big plus – no accommodation requirements!!). In addition to the core team I would be grateful to hear from anyone who can arrive early or stay on late at events to assist the changeover each evening. All enquiries to Bert Elson, Logistics Manager, 2020 Auschamps Tasmania. bert52.elson@gmail.com
PS If you’re still looking for accommodation at Orange for the Easter Champs, there is a spare room in a large house – contact Mike
